I think you are right about Louise, Matt. Although it doesn't
sound as something Camille would do (she was quite
straightforward, from what I remember), we should but look at
the facts: all the talk about the hidden author; the gross blunder
about Zooey's brilliant impersonation, which shows the heart
of her own trick; the "humble" question and the other traits you
noticed. One more detail: Camille's mail account was also
"angelfire.com", I think.
So, I've come up with a
Plan to Unveil Camille
1. General Remark - as Jim said, she used to talk far more than
any of us.
2. More General Remarks - she had an opinion about almost
anything and made an effort to express it (see 1).
3. Therefore - if we are to unveil her, we could get her to talk
until she discovered, quite by accident, her Real Self.
4. A Thought - maybe we could approach her on the subject of
young people in love, while humming a little something very
much in the mood for a cool lima bean.
5. At the beaches of Verona.
6. Another Thought - but if we suddenly greeted her or
exchanged a couple of her trademark inverted smiling emoticons
(: then she might say just how happy she is to be back.
7. After all this time.
8. And she wouldn't discover the difference until Afterwards.
