Dear All,

One of my friends has to do an essay on the vernacular in American
literature, and was asking me about Salinger's influences. He wondered
if there was any link with French existentialist literature, Sartre or
Camu. Does anyone know anything about this. Has the subject of the
vernacular in Catcher been discussed extensively before on the list? If
anyne could point me to a useful spot in the archives, that would be
great. Or comment now :-)

Thanks, Love, Lucy-Ruth
