Me, too! The 40s and the early 50s! Just to get to 52nd Street and
hear the jazz musicians I love would be a delight; then there was all
the live TV drama -- it would have been a kick to see James Dean
perform live in a TV movie. (I recently unearthed three James Dean
dramatic appearances, on DVD.) Yes, that would be my era -- the
time, as John Cheever called it, when all the men wore hats!
