Neither is Manhattan. It's what the monologue performer Spaulding
Gray calls "an island off the coast of America."

That joke aside, I empathize completely with Scottie's response.
It's a bit of a sledgehammer. Sort of like having a mirror in the
bathroom that says RACIST under it, at a museum of political
correctness. I mean, I can see the designer of the thing thinking
he, she, or it is being clever and sly, but it fails to amuse much,
after the mention of the gimmicked door. There are more subtle ways,
I would guess, to evoke self-examination than FORCING you to walk
through the "wrong" door. I wonder whether the person who arranged
it has a special key to get in....

The only thing more painful (the pain being a feeling of
mortification for the "artist" or "curator") would be requiring all
attendees to check their coats and don hair shirts before entering.
