Well, I live in the happy, hippy, liberal, flakey, often phony San
Francisco Bay Area; where everyone prides themselves in being Different,
and in so doing, becomes exactly The Same. This place is crawling with
those who not only call themselves Catcher fans, but those who will
eagerly call Salinger their Favorite Writer, despite having never so
much as heard of Bananafish or the Glass family.
(Note that the city of Oakland is immune to the aforementioned slurs, as
it is the greatest, most unpretentious, and most un-phony city in the
world - or at least as far as I know. Berkeley be damned.)
