Date?

Subject: Date?

Recent posts have brought to the surface some of the larger-sized peas
in my mattress. Through lack of sleep, then, or perhaps just
intolerably mounting anxiety, I've finally gotten the courage up to
ask my fellow listmembers about dates. About dating on this list,
specifically. It's an important question, depending on your
background, personal preferences, etc., but also just a touchy issue
in general. It's to those people who feel very strongly about dating
that I apologize, if the question is upsetting. I hope I don't ruin
anyone's opinion of me. Here goes.

As far as this list is concerned, is it the twentieth, or is it the
twenty-first century? Every time I find it necessary to refer to us
as "in the late twentieth century," I pause briefly and consider.
Because within the year, if not already (depending on which side you
take), it's the twenty first. So, what's the date?
