It may be a little gratuitous, but I'll never forget how I felt when I first
read the following, as cited in Seymour's diary in 'Raise High the Roof
Beam, Carpenters':

"I am a kind of paranoiac in reverse. I suspect people of plotting to make
me happy."

Until I read that, I had a hard time relating to the sympathy that many
FREAKS like us feel for Seymour; those two sentences dramatically altered
the way I've come to think about his eventual suicide.
