Almost anything, non sine eventu, can summon this esthetic
emotion: the patient remark, the spirited comeback, der Abschied.
The fate of the poet is to forge this intimate experience into a
memorable cadence, into a memory of numerous craft.

The feat is not impossible. Throughout the years, all of you
have composed those moments of delight. You have also been
infuriating sometimes. You have created morning for me, a time
to read about you. In order to elude controversy, I will quote only
the most recent occurrence of a lasting impression (yours, Graham),
 one pregnant with leaving.

                               Graham writes his epitaph

    Fare thee well,
