Ah yes, I remember the good old days of the honorary degree controversy....

I've always considered the indignation and the harrumphing that gave rise to
that wonderful letter to be one of the surest signs that Derrida's work was
truly worth something.

It was a proud moment. As even Scottie knows, it's always a good sign when
you're pissing off the right people.
