i'd say paul alexander's biography is more
appropriately priced at $4. it sure wasn't worth the
full list i paid when it came out.

though at least he did some research in the new yorker
archives; but not enough. those tidbits of info were
the only worthwhile things in the book. otherwise, it
was journalistic and mean-spirited.

i forgot to check to see if it had a chronology.

i have a feeling that the ascertainable facts of jds's
life would cover only a handful of pages, single
spaced. no doubt he would wish it to be even fewer.
