hi there, i am new on the list and have been quietly following the debate
over eric's sexual orientation and over the use of cultural stereotypes in
literature. i fear we have become so afraid of appearing politically
incorrect that we do not trust our owm minds anymore. the impression i
got when i read the story was that eric was gay. i could be wrong about
that but i am not homophobic and do not feel it is in anyway homophobic of
me to think that, though i do realize that even being queer does not
exclude me from that possibility. it is possible to hate people no matter
who your friends are, no matter who you are. just a thought.
