I've been a Salanger fan for several years and I've never been able to
find a fellow Salanger lover willing to discuss his work. So, I'm realy
excited about Bananafish.
Most of the people I know think Catcher is about nothing.
Anyway, fill me in. Why do you think Salinger might have ADD? Because of
his reclusiveness? Interesting. I read something once by some literary
critic who thought that Salinger's relclusiveness was a result of his
inability to adjust to the sophisticated intellectual social scene he was
being thrust into after his sucess with Catcher. I'd like to think that
this is pretentious nonsense and that Salinger was just not interested in
associating with those types. Maybe that's too simple, though. The ADD idea,
or the idea that he may suffer some sort of affliction, is interesting. Tell
me more.
