I am quite familiar with ADD. It runs in my wife's family, and Ithink I
have seen enough evidence of it to recognize it when I see it. I'm not sure
you can pick that up in writing though. One of the hallmarks, however, is
this weird ability to have either no attention span whatsoever, or one so
intense it's an obsession. My wife's nephew, for instance sometimes can't
sit down or hold still or stay in one place, and will talk and rample but
at other times wil take out a box of legos and piece them together
relentlessly for hours. Now if a writer tapped into that mentality, he or
she could sit down and compose without interruption for a long time and get
some serious work done. --mark
