Hey All! This is my "getting to know you," whoever You are, message.
Haven't read a thing by JDS for years now, but he's been stuck in my craw
ever since that summer morning when I read "Catcher..." at the age of 15.
What originally caught my fancy about the book was that I, like Holden, was
attending a Prep High School. Surrounded by a buch of future ivy-leaguers I
felt I had nobody during those confusing years to relate to. But, Gosh
darn, my parents thought it was the best for me....oops! sorry about
that....nah, all anger is gone now. But Holden and JDS are still around,
and, like I said, they probably always will be. Well, among other things
that "Catcher..." blessed me with, such as various ideas and principles of
life which have entered my conciousness through the back door, so to speak,
it was also the Very First Book I read. And there have been thousands
since. Holden led me to Prometheus in a way and from the sun burnt
grandfather of all rebels I jumped galdfully, fearfully into Rimbaud..
I guess what I'm getting at is wondering about the kind of literature all
you, excuse the phrase, "Salinger Freaks," are into. Specifically, the kind
of literature that shows a shed of the attitude of Salinger....
