I read "The Laughing Man" first -- I don't know why that happened to work
out that way, but I was hooked.  Then I went in methodically and read the
book from start to finish.  I didn't read the other Glass books (F&Z and
Raise High the Roof Beam...) until later.

I'd say that you can start anywhere and end up anywhere, and you'll be
satisfied.  The only note I'd make is that some people find the first story
-- "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" -- emotionally shattering.  But I
wouldn't let that scare me off.
