The mystique of salinger extends in these directions. His stories have been the catalysts for epiphanies the world over, and we can't help but want to know everything about the man who could have such an impact. Who are his children and what kind of art does he like? I still believe that "the book is the thing" . . . "REad the book; it's all in the book. . ." (salinger to betty eppes), BUT so much of what i have learned about his personal life has enriched my understanding of what i have read. so please, bananfishers, give us lurkers more of that traditional intellectual, textual, commentary--oh please do! but from time to time, give us a little color in these asides.
