I was reading _Catcher_ last night for the practically thousandth time and
came across an interesting thought: What is it with Salinger and
bathrooms? I, for some reason or another, seem to remember that there has
been a discussion concerning this on the list before, but I'm not
completely sure.
It is in _Catcher_ that Phoebe tells her mother that she said her prayers
in the bathroom (this while Holden is hiding in the closet). It is in
"Zooey" that the large majority of the story takes place in the bathroom.
It is also in "Raise High" that it is mentioned how Boo Boo wrote on the
mirror, "Raise high the roofbeam, Carpenters..."
I was just curious to hear other opinions concerning this common occurance
in JDS' work. How does everyone feel about this?
