Will or others-- Do you have publication data for the article you mentioned?--I'm also trying to write something on Catcher and other Salinger fiction, mainly in terms of Holden's obsession with siblings (esp. Phoebe, Allie), partly in context of American Cold War preoccupation with family, domesticity, and adolescents who never quite manage to break free. In this regard am also much interested in the Freudian (and/or Jungian) connection and in particular the absent parent. Realize I am being very apple-eater about all of this (the rotten apple in the barrel?), but it seems to me an unavoidable aspect of Salinger's fiction that is often glossed over. Many thanks in advance, Denis WILL HOCHMAN wrote: > > Meredith, I'm so glad you passed your driver's test...I'll bet your car is > banana colored, right? > > Anyway, a good article for your thesis is "The Language Of The Catcher In > The Rye" by Donald P.
