You've got to be kidding. Like I already said, there's no doubt that was
Lolita there, it just sure wasn't Nabokov's. I don't know about books that
translated well to the screen - once you start working in a whole lot of
different media (TV's the only one that I haven't tried) you begin to
realise that the best works of art are the ones that have been designed
explicitly for the medium in which they appear. I can think of a couple of
really bad ones (`The Outsiders' - Ford Coppola for one). Sally Potter's
`Orlando' is the only decent one that springs to mind.
