Yes, and apparently (apocryphaly) Hemingway liked one of JDS's story so
much he shot a chicken which inspired the chicken-shooting incident in `For
Esme'.

Never could get into Hemingway myself.

Those two statements together sparked off a startling
stream-of-consciousness revelation. His scar - lemon yellow! Long, yellow
scar - the scar of a banana(fish)!
