Are you all so against any film based in any way on Salinger's work? Instead of seeing it as an exploitation, why can't it be an extention of his work? A celebration in itself? And if the film is terrible, it would just highlight the greatness of the book. I'm saying if someone had a serious try at making, say, Catcher, into a film, we should be open-minded about it and not condemn it from the very thought of it. I would be excited about a film version if someone who has a good eye for adaptations. The film may be terrible, the film may be great, but we shouldn't condemn it like we go. And they aren't even making a film! Christian
