What's the big fuss?

Are you all so against any film based in any way on Salinger's work? Instead
of seeing it as an exploitation, why can't it be an extention of his work? A
celebration in itself? And if the film is terrible, it would just highlight
the greatness of the book.
I'm saying if someone had a serious try at making, say, Catcher, into a film,
we should be open-minded about it and not condemn it from the very thought of
it. I would be excited about a film version if someone who has a good eye for
adaptations. The film may be terrible, the film may be great, but we shouldn't
condemn it like we go. And they aren't even making a film!
