Camille writes in Re: Linklater:

"No piece of art truly withstands the transition between mediums."

A piece of art exists within one medium. If you extend it beyond that,
changing the format, ie., making the dialogue and settings of a book into a
movie, you've created a new piece of art, taking into consideration other
aspects of film that never had to be considered when writing Catcher, for
example.
No piece of art withstands transition between mediums because it becomes a
new piece of art, based on an adaptation, at best.
A good film based on Catcher, therefore, would mean that the director would
have to have the film equivalent of Salinger's literary vision.

Is that possible?
