I disagree with you about Muriel, however. I think she did love Seymour in
her own, limited, selfish way, though I agree they were two completely
different people.

I agree with your disagreement with me, she did love seymour in her own way,
I guess it wasn't enough.
 I mentioned that Sybil's mom is off drinking but promises
  to bring her the olive which would suggest Sybil's liking for olives. In
Salinger's short story "I'm Crazy" ,Viola, a baby sister of Phoebe's and
Holden's, climbs out of her crib to beg Holden to get her some olives.
Connection there? Who knows, interesting though.
