All scoffing and jesting aside, both Stunk & White and Fowler suffer
somewhat from having to contend with their former incarnations. For a
truly good grammar that goes about its business unbothered by the
ghosts of printings past, try Edward D. Johnson's _The Handbook of
Good English_. It's friendly, sensible, and savvy.
