Oh, dear, it appears that I have put my foot in it once again. Absolutely.
The list members are kindness personified. My meaning, which was apparently
unclear, was that paying attention to what people have to say here is a
great way to learn. And don't be scared, even if someone replies to your
post with a sarcastic tone.

However, I'm not so willing to give up on the basketball analogy. Toni
Kukoc was nothing until he played with Jordan. There are those who have
called him a girl at times, but I'm not so sure I wouldn't call him one of
the big boys.

ObSal: Part of the reason why Franny's letter bothers me so much is that I
can't reconcile a girl who would write a sloppy letter like that couldn't be
a member of the Glass family. They're all such lovers of words, I can't
think that Franny Glass would be so careless. But if the Franny in "Franny"
is not Franny Glass...
