I believe in mid-December it was Tim who asked for any leads re later
Hemingway assessments of JDS. At the time I had none, and probably still
don't. However, I noticed two little items over the past week.

A.E. Hotchner makes a cameo in both the Hamilton and Alexander bios. (In
the latter, he even claims that "An Ocean Full of Bowling Balls" is the
title of one of _his_ stories. I have never read his book _Choice
People_, which both biographers list as a source.) Another of his books,
_Papa Hemingway_ , recently has been reissued, and I quote, "H. reflects on
his 14-year relationship with Hemingway. ...The memoir is filled with their
conversations...." Perhaps a quick glance at the index of that volume might
turn up some JDS info.

And: A magazine I was perusing stated that last fall it was reported that
the Library of Congress obtained a major Hemingway collection. "Original
manuscripts, _letters_, 300 photos, rare recordings and home movies have
been donated by A.E. Hotchner, Hemingway's longtime friend."

Perhaps the JDS/Hemingway story line will be brought out of WWII into the
'50s when one _might_ argue they were the biggest names in American Lit.
