Andy, a *real* writer doesn't need advice from pikers like E. B. White. I
suggest rereading Scottie's post a dozen or so times so that you can fully
appreciate its genius. Note in particular how the author, a little known
contributor to some obscure mailing lists, promotes his talents by ever so
subtly positioning himself above a famous, accomplished essayist.

One thing should be quite clear from Scottie's post, Andy. If you think
there's anything to be learned from Strunk and White, you obviously lack the
talent and, more importantly, the arrogance to be a successful writer.

Well, dang ME. I never guessed my little tease about
Writing By Numbers could be only a pale reflection
of your actual Shrink & Wilt.

Reading it, I was immediately carried back to those hilarious
days when we native doctors sat around reading the seventy
eight constipated paragraphs of advice from the medical branch
of the United States Air Force on how they wished psychiatric
reports written on such as their pilots as had the bad luck
    to fall into our hands.

I take it all back, Andy. Place your order now. Stench & Wart,
Skunk & Shite, they're the boys for you. One day - you never know -
they may even help you write like me (as I? as me? like I? ... help.)

    Scottie B.
