Tcha. Pay attention, Scottie B. That's the Navajo and the *Chinese* I'm
trying to link. And the linkage is so easy, so clear, one almost falls over
it.

Which reminds me, appropos of nothing, of a Taoist tale that some of you may
enjoy simply because of the subject matter. The Art Institute in Chicago is
having a Taoist exhibit right now, and as I wandered through, I came across
a twenty-foot scroll painted with fish after fish. It was called "The
Pleasures of the Fishes" and the explanation read:

A Taoist (who was named in the exhibit, but I've forgotten his name now) and
a Confucianist were walking along the side of a stream, watching the fish
frolic and play. "Look at how they swim and dart!" said the Taoist, "Fish
enjoy such play."

The Confucianist scoffed at him and said, "How do you know what the fish
enjoy? You can not know what they are thinking."

"Ah," said the Taoist, "One has only to see to know."

I got a kick out of it, anyway. The Pleasures of the Fishes.

Regards,
Cecilia.

ObSal: The pleasures of the bananafishes are apparently to carp at each
other lately. Sigh.
