Well, you know how it goes...the house party turns into crashing on the
sofa; the long, lazy morning with the hosts and the other guests who
crashed there too; the slow pilgrimage to brunch; the detour to get
coffee on the way back to the house; playing with the baby while
listening to female singers from Mali as the sun goes back down again;
and before you know it you've dropped your friend off at home and gone
to put in a few more hours helping your other friend who just got a
computer for Christmas as you configure his Dial-Up Networking so he is
no longer amongst the digitally homeless. And by the time you finally
get home you realize that it's already the second of the year and you're
too late to say "Happy Birthday!" to JDS, not to mention his other first
day of the year brethren and sistren
