damn! here i was, determined just to read and think, not write and start another blasted arguement, but i'm afraid one mr. scottie bowman seems to like to play the part of the bully. well mr. bowman, i'm afraid i am not going to hide in the corner and cry like many of the wonderful, intelligent people who have been forced off of this list by your disparaging remarks. Now that my lowercase letters have surely caused quite a stir with Mr. Bowman I suppose I will do the rest of you a favor and use correct punctuation, commas in all the right places, and *egads!* even capitalize a few letters! Really people, we're here to discuss Salinger and his work, not attack each other and spend all of our energy destroying any bond we may all share. While I do admit that the beginning of this post is more than saturated with jabs at Mr. Bowman and others who, much like I have just done, take jabs at others, I would like to point out that this was a demonstration of how petty and stupid we all seem to get. Call me a hippocrite if you will. I personally believe that unless we have something truly important to say we should just tuck our hands under our bums and sit on them, all the while thinking up something really great to post or not bother posting at all. Oops, sorry, I'm afraid that was a run-on sentence! Seriously people, let's take a break from all this nonsense. Instead of lowering our self-esteem we should be enhancing our intellectual capabilities. OB SALINGER: I almost have my roomate convinced that she must, Must, MUST read Catcher. It almost seems sad; she's two years ahead of me in schooling, not to mention an English major, and she hasn't even read The Scarlet Letter. Aw, but not to be outdone by those who are just itching to flame, I must admit that I haven't read half of what she has. That's what makes us great acquaintances; we can learn so much from each other. Same sentiment applies to this list. Truce. Jessica :) p.s. I took the liberty of proofreading before posting. Hopefully I can save a few honest souls from having to scratch their heads and say "what?"
