HI Brian, After I raved and raved about Franny and Zooey, two friends, who both loved Catcher finally read the copies I gave them. I don't know how disappointed THEY were, but I couldn't believe how they weren't taken with it. One friends said, "I got through Franny but started Zooey and then, god, the book went off in one of those J.D. Salinger tangents and I had to go to bed." I feel like such a salinger snob because I just feel like EVERYONE likes Catcher in the Rye, but a true fan just MUST love Franny and Zooey. I know, I know...it sounds just terrible saying it. I love Franny too, more than Zooey, speaking about their personalities, just because I think he's a little mean, but the best part for me was the end of Zooey when he's telling Franny that it's none of her business etc. etc. when it comes to the shallowness of people....for me, this just really hit a major point home because I have a big problem when it comes to dwelling on the shallowness of other people, and that of myself. (Don't you just love the part where Zooey is looking in the mirror in the bathroom and he says that he tries to only look in his eyes, it's been a long battle through life, so he doesn't become absorbed with the rest of himself....I love that.) Anyway, I'm finally glad that someone else appreciates it all. Rachel
