this is embarrassing to admit to, but terrifyingly true:
prozac nation, elizabeth wurtzel. there, i said it. story of my *life*.
and tom robbins' 'skinny legs and all'.
i fact all of tom robbins' books. i'm amazed at how he writes as female
narrators so... *flawlessly*.
this is, of course, disregarding anything by our sal.
most of the books that 'instantly click' with me were written in the
past ten or fifteen years. depressing really, isn't it? i like earlier
writers, or course, but the effort to drag myself past the superficial
'cultural reference points' usually forestalls the click.

i feel quite stupid today. i just realised that it's taken me eighteen
years to notice the blatant irony and double entendre in the phrase
'human race'.
