   Hello Mike,

I wouldn't worry about writing anything particularly awe-inpiring.
For me, awe is where I look for it - I am still worried about what
is going to happen to Rose in her difficult situation.

If I am not moved to awe, then it is something related on the distaff
side when I consider that upon having finished Zooey, one of your
first reactions was to tell us all about it. I have written before that
one of the chief pleasures of this list is the feeling I get reading
a Salinger story, and realizing that there is a lovely group of friends
I've never met who come as close to understanding what I'm feeling
at this moment, as anyone ever will.

I hope you are feeling better after your episode in the delivery room.
I would caution you, though, that if reading F&Z inspires fainting
spells, you should probably stay away from A Perfect Day for
   Bananafish, eh?

   all the best,
   Mattis
