  But in all seriousity, I take it you were underwhelmed by the riddle
  of whether Holden will call Jane, perhaps considering it no more important
  than the issue of Seymour's nose hair (well, that *is* important, but not
  as accessible to discussion). However I have always (since tenth
  grade, when I still had to walk 10 miles uphill both ways to and from
  school) seen this as a topic one could run with.
  
  As for its importance, do you mean to tell me that while somewhere, in
  the bar in the Hotel Astor, or the back room of our memory, Holden sits
  with one hand on the receiver, and the other holding a worn address book,
  unopened. And somewhere, between two warm sheets, or staring at moist, red
  eyes in the bathroom mirror, Jane is waiting without knowing it, for the
  boy who is not interested in showing her a good time. And you are busy
  with matters of consequence?
