Of course that's all true.  I was asking the questions out of respect for
Mattis' attempts earlier (the FUQs that didn't seem to get much
response). . .

I mean, if you're just having fun, I say go for it.  Go for it with the
questions, the fan fiction, etc.  If you have specific ideas you want to
be taken seriously, however, in my opinion you have to stay in the world
of the text.

I didn't say Mattis' perception of Holden was "wrong," and I did admit it
was a "possiblity," but it's just not within the realm of possibilities
I'd envisioned after my own reading of Catcher.  I think it's an
optimistic vision, so I'm "biologically predisposed" against accepting it
:).  Anytime you're talking about human growth, of course, almost
anything is possible.
