At least Times Square, and subways, are human, to paraphrase a favorite line.

It is true that it takes some adjustment to become comfortable around trees
and (prizewinner of all) my very own compost heap.  But all in all, I'd say
it's not a bad tradeoff to have given up on NYC after spending nearly all
my life there.  At least when I run out the door for some morning exercise
and the paper, I don't feel compelled to carry my gun.  <*grin*>
