a toe in London

Dear Fish:

I find myself suddenly and unexpectedly pulled to London for work,
for two days. I will be arriving from Paris by train on Sunday, July
2, in the early evening, doing consulting Monday and Tuesday during
the day, and leaving Wednesday morning.

I'm not the world's most social creature, and don't do well in smoky
places, but thought I'd mention my visit in case anyone in
bananafishland would like to get together for dinner, or cigar stubs.

I'll be working at Bedford Square and staying in Tavistock Square. I
know utterly nothing about London except for the direction the cars
drive, so I don't know if saying that is the equivalent of saying
"I'll be excavating the moon while I sleep on Jupiter."

If anyone wants to try to get hold of me, the number of the Tavistock
Hotel is 020-7636-8383. It is located in WC1B. (I was told
pointedly that postal codes matter a great deal, so I say this with
all due gravity.)

Because of my hotel life, I'll be checking mail periodically between
now and when I leave, and won't be able to check at all between 11 am
(Paris time) Sunday and about 5:30 pm (London time), when I hope to
reach my hotel in one physical and mental piece.

It would be a delight to hear from anyone who has a bit of free time!
(Paul, I regret that there will be no baseball game to catch.)
