I bought an original New Yorker with _A Perfect Day for Bananafish_ for $17.
The seller was auctioning a pile of New Yorkers and clearly didn't realize
that this edition was special (start bid was $1).

I would have gotten it for much less, except it was bid up by some chap
named Foskett.

Hey

Maybe you already know this but I was browsing at ebay (www.ebay.com) and
there's lots of cool Salinger stuff there. There are now at least two
magazines
for sale from the 1930's and 40's with some of the unpublished stories in
them.
You can get all the stories on the net but these make nice little collectors

items. These two that I saw were about 35 or 40 bucks a piece. But it's an
auction so the price might go up. Plus there are lots of people there
selling
early or even first editions of Catcher and some of the others too.

cheers,

you in a long
time.
