Now, I know that when someone's in the midst of sending you a studied
insult, you're not supposed to stop and admire the prose, but I find it
impossible to suppress a giggle at this juncture.

It's an honest question: edit out what is considered "offensive" so that
more people have the opportunity to be exposed or sit up in your ivory
tower with said book intact and listen to more generations of uninformed
people try to tell you what the book is about? I think you know that,
like Andy, my vote falls on the ivory tower end of things, but I can
glimpse (just barely, mind) the other end of the argument. Call it the
Martello Tower, easily scaled by even the wingless.

Now play nice, Old Sport, or I shall be forced to write you long
idealistic treatises written solely in green ink.

Regards,
Cecilia.
