Hey everybody. My name's Josh and I hail from Dallastown Pennsylvania. Im
new to this list, and I thought I introduce myself, as well as pass on an
item of potential interest.
The "Holy Moment", the divine minute, the delicious second, all are
abound in good literature. The name "divine moment" was coined by Woolf,
but can be found not only in her works, but in Joyce, Anderson, and of
course Salinger. The ending of Catcher in the Rye is a perfect example. In
these moments, things tend to work out. Time and sometimes self disapeers,
what Eliot calls the timeless moment in time. Perhaps even an actual
communion/experience with the true ground of reality.
Well, it just so happens that a recently released movie, "Waking Life",
explores this issue in one of the many vignettes in the film. Its a
fantastic movie with connections to all sorts of literature, psychology, and
religion. Its worth a close viewing, so go rent it. Beware however, its
very experimental. Its done in rootscaping, ie it was filmed then animated
over, to give a cool dreamy view.
Just though I drop that note as well as say hello. Thanks!

Josh K.

Ps. Sorry if this movie was already mentioned...i just signed up.
