I note with smugness and glee that Mr Sutherland's depiction of New
Historicism and of early modern drama, theaters, and particularly their
"inherent" subversion adequately betrays his ignorance of the field and
provides quite sufficient evidence for challenging the accuracy of any of
his pronouncements about academic matters.
