i might add that eberhard alsen in his book
'salinger's glass stories as a composite novel' has an
appendix listing the texts and editions he believes
informed salinger's work.

Interesting tidbit about that site.  You can find the book that the story of Duke Mu and Kao is in that Salinger used in Raise High.   Its called the Book of Lieh-Tzu, a little known Taoist text that usually takes an undeserved backseat to Tao Te Ching.  The site's amazing, its where I collect all my Eastern texts and what not.  Check it out:
