I agree generally with Jim. In the 60's AD the Jews revolted against Rome
which Resulted in the destruction of the Temple, and with what is said after
Jesus' death the Apostles visited the temple so the events of Jesus life
took place well before the 60's. The open warfare between the Jews and Rome
are covered in Josephus. I think much of the tradition concerning John
comes by way of Polycarp who supposedly became a disciple of John around 80
AD and John was old by that time.

Depends who you talk to.

The dates I've heard are that Jesus was born around 4-7 BCE and died
around 27-30 CE. John the apostle's age, when he met Christ, isn't
easily determined, and some argue that this John didn't write the Gospel
anyhow. It's tradition, of course, that the apostle John wrote his
gospel as a very old man.
