Greetings, all!
Just wanted, first of all, to say that I'm really glad there's a newsgroup
out there devoted to, I believe, the most underrated author the world has
ever seen (in my humble, high school junior opinion...) :). In response to
the casting options for a possible screen version of Catcher (this is news to
me), I have to agree with you, Susan on your suggestion of Leo D. Though he
still presents the possibility of it becoming a teeny bopper film, I think he
would fill the part magnificently. A note regarding your other suggestion
(Jared Leto)... although it has nothing to do with Catcher, I see Jared Leto
(also what's his name who plays the older *Salinger* brother on Party Of
Five) more in the role of Seymour (I don't know what it is about them). I
realize, as I said before that this has nothing to do with Catcher, but it
popped into my mind with the mention of him in your posting.

A quick question about Salinger that I'm sure someone can answer... I'd like
to preface it by saying that I was suprised (and, needless to say, thrilled)
to learn that JDS lives in my own back yard (well, not really, but NH is a
small state). Can anyone tell me whether he is still as resistent to human
contact as he was so many years ago when that whole slew of magazines were
trying to interview him? I can understand his reaction to the attention
then, but I have this insatiable curiosity that is nearly pushing me to jump
on my car right now and drive up to Cornish in hopes of catching a glimpse of
him...

I'd also like anyone's opinion on what his best short story was...

Listmaster Tim (that does sound like a rapper's name, doesn't it?),
congratulations and thank you for maintaining this list for peepskles like me
who just love to talk about nothing and everything for long periods of time
:) Take care, all.
