I keep thinking why this spiritually rich guy might even think of
marrying such a "spiritual slut" and then I read this post. Maybe it is
exactly that maybe he is thinking of the joy of service when it comes to
Muriel. Also someone said on the list that she was just along for the
ride. I think she was much more. I really think he tried to tie and
shine his shoes for her everyday you koe like in Zooey and she still was
blank. I mean the girl makes distinctions of us and them at the dinner
party the night before right. I think the marriage is a complete failure
not only in that they are different and that she needs to read a sex
book called Sex Is fun or Hell but in that after so many years, a
complete circle of a marriage since they are the same place they stayed
when they were married, Seymour couldn't make a dent in changing her
spirit or deepening her at all. I mean she wouldn't even read the books
she suggested.

I guess I'm rambling again. I think I'll go out and try and hit a four
iron. Didn't Salinger play golf.

Thanks for listening.
