Graham, this information is coming from a "dumb" (perhaps "Dumn" is the Candadian spelling, eh?) Yank Cluck so don't believe it, but here's what I know about this book. There are possibly 3 issues of the first ed of RHTRBC&SAI because the dedication was messed up. Of the 8 1st eds I have (HB) most are second issue which means that the dedication shows up on the 9th page from the inside cover. First issue has the dedication on the 7th page from the inside cover and this is much rarer...there may be even a more rare issue of no dedication but I have not found that to be the case...yet. I don't know the story of Little Brown and Company messing it up, but I'll bet it's interesting. This yank calculates your book cost in american dollars at $27.55. I recently saw two 1st Eds (second issue) on sale at the strand rare books store with dust jackets in good condition for $20.00 (each). I don't think I paid that much for any of mine, but it does sound as though the cost of your canadian 1st ed is high, unless it's got the dedication tipped in earlier or none at all...btw, my one 1st ed with dedication on the 7th page came to me via a library sale and has stamped on the first page, "DISCARDED BY THE US AIR FORCE." It cost $1.00 and is the most valuable first ed of this book I own. hope this helps with liberty and justice for all, will
