Hm.  I don't identify very closely with any of the characters in Salinger's
fiction, sad to say.  HOWEVER- both Buddy and Zooey are characters with traits
I admire.  They both talk/write so well, love so enviably, and Zooey's
"unsurpassingly handsome" (am I remembering that verbatim?).  In high school I
ordered 100 of those personalized pencils, with "Buddy Glass" embossed on
them.  Still have a few, though high school is sufficiently long gone that the
erasers crumble!
