As a writer you have to be 100% self motivated. Send things out - send a
publisher or agent a sample of your work (but check first if they read
unsolicited manuscripts - less and less do these days). Enter competitions
- that's how I got my first big break. Join classes and discussion groups,
and overall, MAKE CONNECTIONS, I can' t stress that enough - I'm on the
brink of securing a film contract simply because my screenwriting teacher
really liked the short film I wrote to graduate. If no one else can help
you, do it yourself. Put up a web page of your work (this is what I did and
it's certainly given me a wider exposure). Publish a zine, or submit your
work to other zines. 

Remember , no one will notice you unless you're jumping up and down waving
a red flag, so asking for help like this is the first step in the right
direction (:
