I read Franny & Zooey last year, when I was 13. Along with Raise High/Seymour and Nine Stories. But I found Franny a little neurotic. I felt she was too passive with Lane. Lane! Dont get me started on him. What an egotistical jerk! I always wondered why Franny says she hated egos (in the theatre class) and she goes out with the king of egos! Don't get me wrong, I do love Franny. Dear Lovely Insane and Knocked Up Franny. But I think I'm a cross between Boo Boo and Zooey. Like Zooey, I'm frustrated in conversations and I have high standards in them. (And I'm quite rude to my mother, incidentally.) Like Boo Boo, I'm sort of ..gee. "Navy Like" (whatever that is). It may have something to do with me being a former Navy brat and calling everyone "Soldier" or "Lieutenant" or "Civilian" .. go figure. In my opinion we are forced to read Shakespeare in High School (well I can only speak for Romeo & Juliet) because it takes a great deal of deciphering the language. My teacher always said how we were supposed to appreciate the times and how Ro and J could most likely be like YOU [me] someday. Great Caesar's Ghost. With that rational we could throw in a couple John Hughs movies into the ole' BETAMAX. (Public School) -Erinn
