yes, you are right about Hank in _Connecticut Yankee_, however, I haven't
read _Roughing It_.  I see where you're coming from now-basically the
satirical elements?  Am I right?

Nothing in particular comes to mind.  The narrator of _Roughing It_ I
remember being especially amusing, and so the voice in _Connecticut
Yankee_.  I was thinking in very, very general senses, perhaps to the
point that by "Salingeresque" I meant not only literal similarities of
style but also general similarities of experience on the part of the
active reader.
